Renaming Cart32 Executable Files (c32web.exe and cart32.exe)
Posted by Matt Marler on 12 March 2010 10:30 AM
The Cart32 executable files can be renamed either for security reasons or for personal preference. Here's how to rename the two files.

Renaming the cart32.exe file
The Cart32.exe file can be renamed directly on the server by doing the following:

1. Locate the cart32.exe in the cgi-bin folder
2. Right-click the file and choose Rename
3. Enter the new name for the file (it must keep the .exe extension)

The Cart32.exe file can be renamed through FTP by doing the following:

1. Using a browser or an FTP client, download the cart32.exe from the cgi-bin folder.
2. Right-click the downloaded file and choose Rename
3. Enter the new name for the file (it must keep the .exe extension)
4. Upload the renamed file back to the cgi-bin folder.

If Cart32.exe is renamed, the cart32.ini file will need to be updated. Locate the following line in the cart32.ini file:

Cart32Name=cart32.exe

Update this line to have the new file name, for example:

Cart32Name=newfilename.exe

Save any changes in the cart32.ini file. The links to the shopping cart will need to be modified to reflect the name change.

For example if cart32.exe was renamed mycart.exe then the link to add items to the shopping cart would be:
http://www.yoursite.com/cgi-bin/mycart.exe/clientname-additem.

Renaming the c32web.exe file
The c32web.exe file can be renamed directly on the server by doing the following:

1. Locate the c32web.exe in the cgi-bin folder
2. Right-click the file and choose Rename
3. Enter the new name for the file (it must keep the .exe extension)

The c32web.exe file can be renamed through FTP by doing the following:

1. Using a browser or an FTP client, download the c32web.exe from the cgi-bin folder.
2. Right-click the downloaded file and choose Rename
3. Enter the new name for the file (it must keep the .exe extension)
4. Upload the renamed file back to the cgi-bin folder.

If c32web.exe is renamed, the cart32.ini file will need to be updated. Locate the following line in the cart32.ini file:

C32Name=c32web.exe

Update this line to have the new file name, for example:

C32Name=newfilename.exe

Save any changes in the cart32.ini file. The links to the shopping cart administration will need to be modified to reflect the name change.

For example if c32web.exe was renamed mycartadmin.exe and the client name was "test" the address http://www.yoursite.com/cgi-bin/mycartadmin.exe/loadtab?client=test would be used to access the test client administration.
